My parenting rant.

So the issue of "strangers raising my child" came up again recently and me being me, I feel the need to debate this. Recent studies have shown that a high quality daycare can help increase a child's academic performance all the way through high school. This was reported on Fox News, MSNBC and The Today Show to name a few. Add to this the consistent research that children in a quality daycare center have less separation anxiety, better social skills, and make friends easier than children not in an early social setting. Just on my own personal rant, my child knows who his parents are. There is no confusion there. He also knows that his parents love him very much and are not pawning him off on some "stranger" for selfish or careless reasons. While no one wants to leave their child for extended periods of time, I appreciate that the people I am leaving him with love him and care for him--and they do. They are also trained caregivers on par with the "strangers" we leave our children with for 6+ hours a day starting when they enter Kindergarten at age 5 and going until they are 18 years old.

This wasn't Dub again was it? 'Cause I'm not sure that people whose husbands can't hack it working at Wal-Mart, and are therefore available to sit at home playing video games and watching a child, should say anything about other people's children.

Mr Dub is actually working now. At least for about 4 hours a day.

But then how will he fit in all his video games?
